The Republic of Ecuador

Why Invest In Ecuador?

There are many beautiful building lots available in South America, but strong demand in countries like Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, has caused prices to rise significantly over the last few years, which means that only the most fortunate can build their little paradise.   The great thing about Ecuador is that it is still relatively unknown but it is comparable to Costa Rica in its beauty and opportunity.

Ecuador is a small country in South America located at the center of the earth with miles of gorgeous beaches bordering the Pacific Ocean with some of the best climates year round.  Ecuador is sheltered from hurricanes and tornadoes, which are very common for its neighbours of Central America and the Caribbean, who are affected by them on a regular basis.
As previously mentioned, Ecuador is less known than other countries at this time which makes it possible to own a splendid place at an affordable price. The local people are very kind and an amazing array of food and variety of fruits, vegetables and fresh seafood is available. Manabi is very well known internationally for its cuisine. This is just one of the reasons that people from all over the world are now choosing to invest in Ecuador at Mirador San José.

Some people chose to relocate full time or come to spend a few weeks or a month away from all the hassle and expensive costs associated with living back home.  Others enjoy the unrestrained way of life compared to the industrialized countries.  It’s a great place to get away from crowded places and to enjoy the freedom and quiet that life can offer here.

Climate & Geography

There are four primary geographic regions in Ecuador:
-La Costa (The Coast) the low-lying areas on the Pacific coastline.
-La Sierra (The Highlands) the Andes Mountains.
-La Amazonia (The East) the Amazon rainforests.
-Region Insular (Galapogos Islands) 1000 km west of the coastline in the Pacific Ocean

The coastal area has a very tropical climate that is warm and humid, usually 20°-30°C. Other areas at higher elevations can be much cooler such as Cotacatchi - where the temperature can be more in the 15°to 20°C range.

The geographic location of Ecuador between two of the world’s large ocean currents, one from the north and one from the south, is very beneficial. These two large currents travel in opposite directions but come to an end when they reach the equator. It makes this region the center of the globe and an area that is protected from huge phenomenal meteorological events might eventually overcome other regions of the world. Many scientists predict that Ecuador won’t be as negatively affected from future climatic changes as some countries.

The Andes:

The Andes Mountains run through Ecuador from north to south and divide the country in half. Its richness of fauna and flora along with its cultural beauty ensures the visitor unforgettable memories and experiences. The Andes mountain range splits into two main ranges, which are called the Cordillera Oriental and Cordillera Occidental. The Cordillera Occidental is the ‘spinal cord’ of the country; its highest peak, the Chimborazo Volcano, reaches 6310 metres above sea level. It is considered to be the farthest surface from the center of the earth.
In the sheltered valley of the Andeans, we find most of the larger cities of the country. This diverse and breath-taking landscape originates from volcanic eruptions dating back millions of years. Many of these areas have easy access and offer many natural reserves.

Pacific Coast:

To the west we find the lower coastal lands of the Pacific Ocean. At approximately 187 km wide, this zone is the mostly occupied by agriculture but, this being said, the region still has many protected ecosystems.

Along the coast are jungles, cliffs and hidden beaches. The coastal Chongon-Colonche mountain range in combination with the Humbolt ocean current results in variety of microclimates. There are many rock and coral reefs to explore out in the water as well.

The Amazon:

The Amazon is one of the less threatened ecosystems in Ecuador. Protected by the Andean Cordilleras this region has preserved many isolated populations from the rest of the country over the centuries. The Amazon region has remained in its natural state for the most part and is home to many endangered species. The Ecuadorian Amazon boasts an amazing array of biodiversity. A rich and complex habitat, it averages 100 different species of trees per acre.

Galapagos Islands:

The archipelago of the Galapagos Islands consists of a chain of 19 volcanic islands located 972 km from Ecuador’s coast. The Galapagos Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage site and are valued for the vast number of species that are found only in the Galapagos Islands and no where else. Marine iguanas, seals, sea lions, whales and marine turtles are just some of the creatures that call this special place home.

Wildlife

Ecuador is classified by Conservation International as one of the 18-mega diverse countries in the world.  Ecuador has over 15,000 species of birds, 25 000 species of plants, hundreds of reptiles and amphibians.  Humpback whales can be watched from the beach of Mirador San José.

Culture

Culture in Ecuador varies greatly because the country is made up of a wide mix of ethnicities. The official language is Spanish however, the native populations can speak one of 10 different languages and an Incan language (Quichua) is spoken by the indigenous peoples.
